Kids, partner, family, friends, work, pets, then you?
It’s not a story of ‘woe is me’ more of an awakening of ‘oh, so where do I fit and what do I want’. Yet when asked, the uncertainty and questioning of yourself starts.
Sadness, frustration, angry with yourself. ‘This should be simple to answer questions purely about me so why can’t I’?
So it’s easier and less painful to retreat back and put others first again, after all seeing them happy makes you happy, right???
But the seed has been planted and it starts to niggle away in your mind. The ‘what if’s’ and ‘don’t be silly’s’ push it away but it now sits there and is growing.
It is making you less patient, questioning and unhappy. You’re not yourself and you can’t quite put your finger on why but you don’t like feeling this way.
Counselling can provide you with that safe non-judgmental space where you can talk and think about you. You can gain supportive tools to be able to communicate with better effect. You can get coping techniques to make you feel more in control. You can start to understand and acknowledge who you are, for you to feel more comfortable being with.
